India TikTok ban set important precedent: FCC chief; restaurants, cloud kitchens see 30-35% jump in NYE orders

Happy New Year! Here’s hoping 2023 is kinder to tech firms and startups than 2022 was. Today, we bring you an exclusive interview with US Federal Communications Commission chief Brendan Carr, who told us that India set an important precedent by banning Chinese short-video app Tik Tok in 2020. At least 20 of 50 American states have banned the app on state government devices, with the number set to increase in 2023, he added.
