Murati, who departed from OpenAI in September last year, launched her new company, Thinking Machines Lab, earlier this year. Sequoia had previously supported another OpenAI alumnus, Ilya Sutskever, when he raised $1 billion for his startup, Safe Superintelligence, last year.
