A cybercriminal group, ShinyHunters, stole vast amounts of student data from the educational platform Canvas. Some affected schools and universities reportedly tried to negotiate directly with the hackers. The breach caused disruptions for students. Canvas' parent company, Instructure, investigated the incident and has since restored services.
